Carol Ann Byers, the daughter of August and Pearl (Jacoway) Byers, was born on June 8, 1932, in rural Lawton, Iowa. She attended country school before graduating from Lawton High School.

After graduation, Carol worked in Moville where she received and distributed books for the Woodbury County Distribution Library to area schools.

It was during this time while on a walk with a friend, that she met our father, Walter J. Schoenherr. They were united in marriage on June 11, 1951. To this union, five children were born. Carol, a lifelong homemaker and Walter, a lifelong farmer, raised their family in the Mapleton, Sioux City, and Merrill areas.

Just a few things that she enjoyed were singing in the church choir, taking walks, gardening, putting together puzzles, and trying her luck at the casino.

Survivors include three sons: Eugene Schoenherr and Loriann of Merrill, IA, Russell Schoenherr and his wife Julie of Sioux City, IA, and Dennis Schoenherr of Le Mars, IA; two daughters: Diane Schoenherr of Minneapolis, MN, and Lori Morrison and her husband Greg of Le Mars, IA; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister and four half brothers.

We are sad and miss you mom but find joy that you are Home and at peace. We love you.

I am so very saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Schoenherr. She was my dearest longtime friend, Diane's mother and such a sweetheart. Diane and I worked together in the mid 70's before she went to nursing school and we both ended up living in Minnesota for many years. We would often travel back and forth together to Sioux City to visit families and I got to know her Mom and siblings during those visits. Mrs. Schoenherr was always so gracious and caring. Her smile and laugh were memorable too, except when it was time for me and Diane to get in the car for our drive back to Minnesota. She would usually cry a little as we said our goodbyes. I will miss her beautiful smile and happy, life-loving laughter. Our deepest sympathies go out to Diane and her family. May Mrs. Schoenherr rest in eternal peace. With love, Vicki
