Dwight Young Obituary

Mr. Dwight Leroy Young age 69 of Solitude Lane Young Harris passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on Saturday February 21, 2026 following an extended illness. Mr. Young was born on October 6, 1956 in Blairsville , GA. the son of the late Lawrence Sherman Young and the late Della Marie Shook Young. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Dwight  loved deer hunting, was a huge NASCAR fan and most of all he loved the Lord. He was a loving and caring father, brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Lynn Dyer Young in 2020, a son, Dwayne Young, two daughters, Sarah and Sabrina Young, five sisters, Kathy Wimpey, Helen Young, Dorothy Young,  Hildred and Mildred Young and two brothers, Ray and Jerry Young. Mr. Young was of the Baptist faith.

   Surviving Mr. Young are one daughter, Katelyn Young Thomas of Blairsville, three brothers and two sisters in law, Tony and Charlotte Young, Dennis and Joy Young and Gary Young all of Young Harris, several nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

   Funeral services will be held on Sunday February 22, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Shawn Mashburn officiating.  The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jeremy Dyer, Josh Dyer, William Young, Stephen Dyer, Joey Dyer and Brannon Dyer. Interment will follow in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery where he will rest with his beloved wife Deborah and his son Dwayne. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12-2:00 pm.
