Franklin Morant, affectionately known as Frank Moe or Cudda, was born January 29, 1959, and passed away on February 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband to Kathy Morant and a caring father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose quiet strength and helping hands touched many lives.
He was the youngest son of the late Willie Morant Sr. and Albertha Lance Morant and was preceded in death by several siblings and extended family members. Throughout his life, Franklin remained deeply connected to his family, serving as a steady source of support and unity.
A 1977 graduate of Choppee High School in Georgetown, South Carolina, he later earned a Welding Certificate from Horry-Georgetown Technical College. Gifted with his hands, Franklin could fix or build almost anything and generously used his talents to help others.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Kathy Morant; his five children, Carlos Brown of Georgetown, SC; Veronica Staley (Dontrey) of Lugoff, SC; Yvonne Temple (Christopher) of Stratford, CT; Diandra Williams (Javid) of Lancaster, PA; and Fransette Morant of Hamden, CT. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Carlos (CJ) Sheridan, Dominique, Crystal, Shanelle, Tierra, Christopher, Caitlyn, Jahvier, Camryn, Soleil, and Kameron, who affectionately called him “Pop-Pop,” along with siblings, extended family, and many dear friends.
Franklin will be remembered for his fly style, dance moves, mechanical talent, and unwavering dedication to family. His legacy lives on in the lives he strengthened, the things he built, and the love he faithfully gave.
