James Culpepper Obituary

A Funeral Mass for James Brian Culpepper, 65, of Palestine, Texas will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Frehls officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.


James passed away on January 1, 2025 in Tyler Texas. He was born on December 4, 1959 to parents John David Culpepper and Linda Alice Nichols. He later married beloved wife Tracy Vance Culpepper of 41 years.  James was a proud Navy veteran, 8th degree black belt in Shorin Rye Karate, and retired as a Captain for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.


James is preceded in death by his father, John Culpepper. He is survived by his wife Tracy, mother Linda, daughter Sarah Anne Culpepper Boyd and spouse Reagan James Boyd, and son John Ryan Culpepper. As well as his sister Elizabeth Anne Culpepper Attaway and husband Jeff and brothers, Mark Edward Culpepper and wife Karen, and Paul Victor Culpepper and wife Carrie. 


Visitation will be held on Monday January 13, 2025 from 5:00-6:00pm at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
