Agedita Trejo Obituary

Agedita Trejo, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at the age of 88 in her hometown of Austin, Texas where she called home for over 50 years combined. Born on January 18, 1938, Agedita's life was a testament to selfless devotion to her family, friends, and community.

Agedita was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her adoring daughters, Sandra Zukowsky, Ernestine Trejo, Sonya (Doug) Unger, and Jessica (Rich) Flair. Her sister, Rosie Merrilat, sister-in-laws Lucy and Irene Perez, and brother-in-law Eli Pina, will hold dear the memory of her kind and spirited nature. Agedita's legacy continues through her grandchildren Joey Trejo, Christina Garza, Paul and Jonathan Zukowsky, Jacob Unger, Anastasia Mirelez, Brandon and Anton Flair, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were blessed by her unwavering love and support.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Victor Trejo; her brothers, Roland, Regino, John, Raul, Joe, and Jim Perez; and her sisters, Gloria Flores, Margaret Pina, Susan Perez, and Rebecca Canales. Each of them held a special place in her heart.

Agedita retired from the City of Austin after more than 25 years of dedicated service to the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Her career was not just a job but a calling, as she provided compassionate support and guidance to countless families. Her unwavering commitment to her work reflected her Christian faith and her belief in the importance of nurturing and caring for the most vulnerable in society.

Agedita embraced the simple joys of life. She was an avid reader and puzzle enthusiast, finding contentment in the quiet challenge of a crossword puzzle. Her musical talents were expressed through playing the piano, a hobby that brought her and her family much joy.

Agedita also took pleasure in shopping, attending movies, and mastering the card game Euchre. She cherished the slumber parties she had with her sisters, which were filled with laughter and storytelling.

Agedita's life was one of constant giving and presence. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was always there for them, particularly if the gathering involved a good slice of cake, which she adored.

Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her and she will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on through the love and faith she shared with everyone whose lives she touched.
