Gary M. Jacobson

BRIDGER - Gary Jacobson was born in Valley City, ND, the fourth of six children. He started his first job at age twelve.

After a move to Billings, MT he managed the K-Mart Produce Department while still in high school and later Denny's IGA.

In his twenty's, Gary and a friend rode three-wheeled motorcycles to Guatemala to visit exchange students they befriended. Their friendship remained to his passing.

The horse racing bug caught Gary in the 1980's. His thoroughbred filly, Little No Miss Talk, earned Montana Three-Year-Old of the Year in 1988. His "Hometown Proud" commitment was well known in both Gary's IGA of Bridger and the Rosebud IGA in Colstrip.

He tried his hand at selling used cars, at his C lark's Fork Valley Auto, but his kind heart usually sold them for less than he paid. Supporting local artists soon flourished into Gary's most passionate hobby, collecting and displaying western art, artifacts, and antiques in a museum-like setting he eagerly shared.

Gary's life focus was helping others with grand gestures of charity. This unsung hero will be greatly missed by family, friends, customers, and community.

A Celebration of Life will be July 27, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Bridger High Gymnasium.
