Joann Duke Obituary
Joann was born on July 18, 1950, in Butler. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Verna Zedreck.
Joann was a retired and proud teacher at Moniteau School District. She truly loved everything associated with Moniteau High School and had a lasting impact on many students throughout the years. In addition to her teaching duties, she led the high school's academic decathlon team to multiple small school state titles, helped produce multiple musicals throughout the years, sold tickets at multiple sporting events and, after retirement, served proudly on the school board for many years. As an educator, it was her priority to always put education and the students first.
In her spare time, Joann loved working with crafts. She made rugs, hair bows, Christmas decorations, custom Christmas trees, home decorations and more. Her greatest joy in recent years was spending time with her grandsons.
Joann is survived by her two sons, Brian (Alissa) Duke and Tim (Alicia) Duke; two grandsons, Louis Ashley Duke IV and Eli Ashley Duke; a sister, Patricia (Gib) Brandon; and two brothers, Bob (Carleen) Zedreck and Rick (Kim) Zedreck; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Duke III, on May 22, 2016.
DUKE - Family and friends of Joann D. Duke, who died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at St. Faustina Parish, St. Louis Catholic Church, 202 W. State St., West Sunbury, with Father Sean Francis officiating.
Inurnment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Moniteau Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 226, West Sunbury, PA 16061, memo: Joann Duke to establish a scholarship in her name.

My deepest condolences to the family. Her and my father were quite close before he passed in January of 2025. She was a sweet woman and she loved her children and grandchildren. She spoke of them often with great love. I will never forget her laughter and sarcasm.
