Keval Family

We are so grateful to have met and known Nancy. She touched each of our lives in ways that are difficult to fully express.
When our family arrived in the United States in 1972, the Wendts were instrumental to welcome us with warmth and love. Nancy and Pastor Wendt opened their home to several members of our family, and we lived with them and their children for three months. Now, as adults, we recognize what an extraordinary act of generosity and sacrifice this must have been for Nancy. Yet during that time, she was nothing but gracious, loving, and fully present to our needs. We cherish those memories deeply.
Every day, Nancy packed lunches with amazing sandwiches, chocolate milk, fruit, and Twinkies for us to take to school. When we returned home, she was always there, giving us as much attention and care as she gave to her own children, Gretchen, Nathan and Charles. She made us feel safe, welcomed, and loved during a time of great transition in our lives.
As we celebrate Nancy´s life, we want to acknowledge the happiness and joy she brought not only to us, but to the generations of Kevals who followed. Nancy was a remarkable human being who accepted everyone wholeheartedly, never judging based on race, religion, or cultural differences. The kindness she showed our family shaped our experience in ways that were profoundly different from many other refugees at the time, and for that we are forever grateful.
Nancy was a shining example of compassion, generosity, and love. As adults, we strive to emulate those qualities and to pass them on to our children.
Thank you, Nancy, for the lessons you taught us simply by the way you lived. Your kindness will remain with us always.

God's peace to you all. I remember Nancy's smiling face at the many Luther League functions at Immanuel in Cedarburg. Oh the cookies she made! She and Jerry were a real asset to our congregation. How wonderful to know with the coming Easter season that you will be reunited with her again!
