GREENVILLE -- Phyllis Marie (Schilling) Cox, 90 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday December 29, 2025, at 6:29 PM at EverHeart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. Phyllis was born April 17, 1935, in Phillipsburg, Ohio, the daughter of the late William and Mary Edith (Green) Schilling.
Phyllis was a farmer's wife and homemaker; she also worked as a Teachers Aid for 13 years at Washington Elementary School, and then worked for 15 years at the Brethren's Retirement Community. She was an active member of Coletown Congregational Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess, Lady Aid, and taught Sunday School; she was a 4H Advisor; and loved gardening, cooking, and canning.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ora Dale Cox; her brothers, John O., and Robert "Bob" Schilling; and her sister, Dorothy M. Schilling.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Allen and Linda Cox of Greenville, Tim and Lisa Cox of North Carolina, Chris and Cheryl Cox of Arcanum, and Debbie and Greg Bourne of Ansonia; her grandchildren, Jenelle (Bret) Good, Malorie (Steven) Judd, Amanda (Michael) Inks, Nicolas (Hannah) Cox, Nathan (Seirra) Cox, Naomi Cox, Tabitha (Ryan) Francis, and Joel (Danielle) Bourne; 13 great grandchildren; and her sister in law, Barbara Tester of Coletown.
Services will be held on Tuesday January 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Rick Mowry officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice.
