So very sorry for your tremendous loss. Your Dad was a caring and kind individual and my Bob would have agreed with you on the competitive spirit - they both competed for who got and read "the green journal" first - with every publication this went on!! From your "game stories"I am glad they only competed with journal reading! Keep your happy memories and know they will comfort you in the times to come - God bless all of you.

Amy, you dad sounds like he was an amazing man. I am truly sorry for your loss. It doesn't matter how long our parents live, they always leave too soon.

My first memory of Dr. Bloom was in the late 1960´s at Miami Valley´s nursery when I was a student nurse. He would come in to check his babies in a blue chambray shirt. At that time all doctors wore suits so we were all quite intrigued with him! Years later I was lucky enough to work with him as our Medical Director at Western Ohio Health Care Plan/United Healthcare. His intelligence, wit and caring nature provided much insight into our day to day activities. Perhaps, however, my greatest gift from him was when he agreed to take on my newborn son, Alex, as his final patient in his private practice. I will always be grateful for that bonding experience. Dr. Bloom, you will never be forgotten.

I first met John Bloom on January 28, 1978, the night of the blizzard of 78, when I came to Dayton to interview for a job at Rothenberg Pediatric Group. My family and I got stranded at the Knight's Inn at Tylersville Road on our way home to Cincinnati and spent three nights there before we could get home. When John heard about this, he made sure we were reimbursed for our expenses. As a pediatric resident, I very much appreciated this kindness.
I eventually joined the " Apple Group " in practice on Salem Avenue and then at Children´s Medical Center in Dayton and learned much about the outpatient practice of pediatrics from Dr. Bloom.
