Bobby Williams Obituary

Bobby George Williams, formerly of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and a resident of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on February 24, 2026. He was 86.

Born on January 3, 1940, in Greenville, South Carolina, Bob had a quick wit and a famously big personality. He was a master storyteller, the life of any party and could play a mean game of poker. Throughout his entire life, he devoutly followed the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, rarely missing a game. Bob spent 65 sweet years with his "honey", Delores, who has survived him. A true lover of simple pleasures, he enjoyed big breakfasts, biscuits and cornbread, but treasured his grandchildren the most. He was known for encouraging them to open Christmas presents early and treating them to huge ice cream cones.

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Preston in Long Beach, California, and was rarely seen without his Navy hat and T-shirt. Following his military service, he began a 30-year career at the Ford plant in Hapeville, Georgia, initially as a line worker and tug driver. His commitment to service and his personal lived experience with sobriety led him to the position of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) representative for the UAW. In this position, he guided many individuals toward sobriety, profoundly influencing their lives.

After retirement, Bob discovered the game of golf and served as a ranger at a local golf course for 25 years.

He wore many hats including: little league coach, AA sponsor, and avid sportsman.

In 2024, Bob and Delores moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Delores Williams; his sons Bobby Williams (Michele) of Waxhaw, NC, and Jeff Williams (Rhonda) of Hartwell, GA. He was the proud "Paw Paw" to Tyler, Abigail, Jessie, and Sophia.
