Marjorie Kemerling
May 4, 1941 - February 22, 2026
Marjorie Ann "Marge" Kemerling, 84, of Pleasant Hill, Mo., formerly of Grand Island, Neb., was born May 4, 1941, in Malmo, Neb., the daughter of Fred and Helen (Vaca) Odvody. She departed this life, Sunday February 22, 2026, at her son's home in Pleasant Hill surrounded with love and family.
Marge grew up on the family farm near Malmo and was a 1959 Malmo High School graduate.
On November 21, 1964, she was united in marriage to Donald D. Kemerling at the St. John's Catholic church in Prague, Neb., and to this union two sons, Roger and Richard were born. Don preceded her in death on January 25, 2022.
Marge was a homemaker while her boys were in grade school. She then went to work for herself cleaning homes. After the boys grew up, she worked full time for Ore-Ida Foods in Grand Island for over 25 years. All while working she and her husband owned and operated the "O.K." Lawn Service Company in Grand Island, Neb. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Island. She and Don were also active members of the Grand Island United Veterans Club. She was an avid fan of Nebraska Cornhusker volleyball and football as well as a Chief's fan. She enjoyed baking, playing cards, camping, and fishing. She especially enjoyed a yearly camping and fishing trip to Truman Lake with her family. Above all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marge was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nadine Bly and Joan Machacek; and one son, Richard Kemerling.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Tina Kemerling of Pleasant Hill; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Kemerling of Omaha; seven grandchildren, Casey (and Jeremy) Thompson, Jenny (and P.J.) Jessie, Chris Kemerling, Jessica Clark, Cassy Reeves (and fiancé, Andrew Boydstun), Jordan (and Machaela) Kemerling, and Kohl Kemerling; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary (and Rose) Odvody of San Antonio, Texas; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded.
Visitation will be held 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Pastor Preston Sanders will officiate.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Pleasant Hill V.F.W. Post #3118 and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
