Esther Gabriel

MADISON – Esther M. Gabriel, age 92, was reunited with her beloved husband, Melvin on February 15, 2026 at Oak Park Place. She was born November 12, 1933 in Bloomer, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Henry and Lillian (Marquardt) Bauer. Melvin and Esther were married on June 19, 1954 in Bloomer. Esther is a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. She was a proud homemaker and mother to her 3 sons, and she later worked for the State of Wisconsin and a property management company.

Esther is survived her 3 sons, Michael (Connie) Gabriel, Alan (Vivian) Gabriel, and Jeff Gabriel; 7 grandchildren, Nathan (Crystal), Adam (Kristin), Stephanie (Matthew Beine), Amy, Jennifer (Jason) Brantmeier, Matthew (Caitlin), and Justin; great grandchildren, Elise Gabriel, Bailey Brantmeier, Jillian Gabriel, Becky Brantmeier, Brooklyn Brantmeier, Trinity Gabriel, Logan Gabriel and Ellery Beine; she is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Joyce Fehr and Duane Bauer.

Special thanks to Agrace Hospice and to all of the staff at Oak Park Place for their loving and compassionate care of Esther.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Cress Center, 6021 University Ave. Madison with Rev. Lisa Nelson presiding. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Memorial Gathering at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
