On Friday, February 13, 2026, Peaches A. Hurwitz (nee Levy) of Silver Spring, passed peacefully at Wellspring Village in Brightview Senior Living of Columbia, Maryland.
Born in
Chicago, Illinois on November 19, 1925, she was the daughter of Edward and Ruth Levy. Her brother, Larry Levy of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away previously.
Raised in Chicago, she showed an early interest in art and eventually studied the related arts at the University of Illinois, University of California, and the University of Wisconsin. She met her husband, Harvey in December, 1945 and they married on October 12, 1946. Work brought them to the Silver Spring area in 1952 where they lived for 58 years and raised their three children. Peach and Harvey were married for 64 years before Harvey passed in 2010. At that time, Peaches moved to Leisure World where she lived for the next ten years. Peaches is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her survivors include: Barry Hurwitz (Kathy) of Columbia, MD, Eli Hurwitz of Los Angeles CA, and Josh (Gladys) Hurwitz and great-granddaughters Maya and Josie of
Owings Mills, MD; Mark Hurwitz (Sally) of

Throughout her life, Peaches was devoted to her family and spent several years researching family genealogy, amassing many notebooks of information and eventually self-publishing a brief autobiography for her children and grandchildren. Everyone who knew her will remember her grace and style, her warmth and willingness to help, and her love of chocolate-and all things sweet. Our beloved Peaches will be missed by all.
If desired, donations in her memory may be made to the
American Cancer Society or the
American Heart Association.
A private memorial gathering will be held later in the spring.
