Charles Joseph Lombardo, a distinguished physicist and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on January 31, 1943, in
Trenton, New Jersey, Charles lived a life rich in achievements and cherished relationships.
Charles graduated from Trenton Central High School and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Physics. His impressive career began at Raytheon, where he worked on critical space re-entry communication projects for NASA. He later became an entrepreneur, owning and operating an antique coin, framing, and art gallery, as well as establishing a publishing company focused on fine art. His business ventures included investments in oil and gas wells in West Virginia and serving as the Chairman of the Board for Multisolutions Corporation, which went public and was based in
Lawrenceville, NJ.
Throughout his life, Charles found joy in many activities. He was an avid poker player who relished trips to Atlantic City, often seen enjoying a snifter of his favorite brandy, Cardinal Mendoza. Passionate about fitness, he frequently challenged younger players on the racquetball court. He also cherished the time spent with his family, especially at the Yardley Inn, where he enjoyed frequent dinners with his loved ones.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph J. and Marie (Romano) Lombardo; and his beloved wife Susan Elaine (Nystrom) Lombardo.
Charles leaves behind his son, Joseph Lombardo II, and his wife, Emily; his granddaughter, Sierra Lombardo, and her fiancé, Anthony; his grandson, Xavier Gonzalez, and his wife, Michelle; and his great-grandson, Adryel. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Geraldine, and her husband, Donald Vetick; his brothers, Thomas and Joseph Lombardo; his sisters-in-law, Cynthia and Cathy Nystrom; his brother-in-law, Barry Nystrom; and his close nephews, Joshua, Benjamin, their wives Samantha and Julia along with several other beloved nieces and nephews Timothy, Portia, Noah, Keith, CJ and Jill; along with an aunt, Victoria Brown, and uncle, Joseph Romano; and many dear cousins. He will be deeply missed by his extended family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on March 9, 2026.
A public viewing will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Parkside Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 1584 Parkside Ave.,
Ewing, NJ 08638.
A eulogy will be given at 10:30 am by Donald Vetick.
Burial will be private for family only.
