Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sosebee Funeral Home on Feb. 28, 2026.
Clint Vaughn, lovingly known as "Papa Clint," passed peacefully at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and love that touched countless lives.
After retiring from Goodyear, Papa devoted his time to sharing encouragement and faith with everyone he met. One of the greatest blessings for our family was witnessing him give his life to Christ at the age of 70, when he was saved and baptized, later becoming a devoted member of his beloved Refuge Baptist Church.
Many people knew Papa for the wooden crosses he carefully made by hand and gave to nearly everyone he met. He never wanted anything in return; he simply wanted people to feel hope and God's presence. Those crosses now rest in homes, stores, cars, pockets, and hands across countless communities - small reminders of the big faith he carried.
He also enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially cheering on the Atlanta Braves and watching car racing. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.
Survivors include: ex-spouse / life long friend,Carol Arnold; son, Tony (Donna) Vaughn; daughter, Joann Vaughn Franklin; granddaughter, Megan (Brian) Rittenberry; great-grandson, Elijah Rittenberry; and "special grandchildren", Persayus Sanchez (Rittenberry) Lucious Lane (Rittenberry), Jace (Shelby) Franklin, Oaklee Franklin, Lauren (Eli) Chester, Braelyn Franklin, Cameron Sears, and Emma Ferguson.
Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Grady and Irene Vaughn, eight siblings, and two beloved grandchildren, Emily Vaughn and Jessica Vaughn.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing Papa is home with the Lord he loved so deeply. His hands may no longer build crosses, but his legacy lives on in every life he touched and in the family who will carry his love forward.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Refuge Baptist Church with Rev. Tyson Smith and Rev. Thomas Shipman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sosebee Funeral Home on Sunday, March 1st from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday, March 2nd from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
