Mr. David Lee Vestal, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a friend to many, entered into his Heavenly Home, at the age of 90, on Friday, October 17, 2025 following a short battle with cancer. He was born in Yadkin County on January 22, 1935 to the late Richard and Mae Ashley Vestal.
David was a member of Arlington First Baptist Church, where he attended as a child and came back to in later years. He was a 1954 graduate of Jonesville High School, where he played baseball and basketball, earning the nickname “Versatile Vestal”. And retired in 1990 after 36 years at AT&T, and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement!

In addition to his parents David was preceded in death by his infant sister, Shirley Vestal and his brother, Daniel Vestal.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 69 years, Nancy York Vestal, his loving daughter Sharon (Scott) Jackson, his wonderful grandchildren Amber Jackson, Tyler (Marcie) Jackson, his special great-granddaughter, Farrah Folger, and his sister, Louise Vestal Calloway
Services celebrating David’s amazing life will be held Sunday October 19, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Arlington First Baptist Church. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church one hour prior to the funeral service from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. Pastor Chris Alford and Rev. Larry Phillips will officiate the service. Burial will follow the service at Crestwood Memorial Gardens, State Road, NC.
Mr. Vestal will lie in state on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville.
The family extends their gratitude to everyone for their love, concern and prayers during this difficult time, and to the staff, who loved David, at Pruitt Rehab in Elkin.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorials are asked to consider The Family Life Center at Arlington First Baptist Church, 345 S Main St, Jonesville, NC 28642.
