Brian Goebel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Messinger Mortuaries- Indian School Mortuary on Feb. 26, 2026.
Brian Arthur Goebel, born March 15, 1967, passed away on February 20, 2026.

Brian was an intelligent man filled with life and love. A man who made his own path. He was born in Riverdale, New Jersey, to Arthur and Edith Goebel, alongside his older sister, Janet Swim. During his childhood, he developed a love for archery and food. His parents instilled a strong sense of discipline and responsibility which guided him throughout his life.

Brian graduated from Susquehanna University, where he majored in Accounting and was a member of the wrestling team. He began his career at Coopers & Lybrand LLC in audit. Over the course of his career, Brian held numerous leadership roles, including serving as Chief Accounting Officer at Republic Services. Brian was deeply passionate about his work and was respected for both his expertise and integrity.

On October 25, 1991, Brian met the love of his life, Rozenah. After four years of dating, he asked her to marry him beneath a large tree. They were married on September 30, 1995. Last year they celebrated 30 years of marriage. He lovingly referred to her as "his Bride," and together they showed everyone around them what true love looks like.

Brian and Rozenah welcomed two daughters into their lives: Victoria, born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Alexandria, born in Scottsdale, Arizona. Brian loved his girls with his whole heart. His family meant everything to him, and he worked tirelessly to provide for and protect them.

Though he was initially adamant about not having dogs in the house, Brian eventually gave in and quickly developed a soft spot for Marshmallow and FayFay, treating them as cherished members of the family. He would have Marshmallow run the perimeter of the yard and was always proud when he cornered a rat. FayFay was his "little lady," and he lovingly called her his schatzi (German for "little treasure").

A man of deep faith, Brian devoted himself to serving both the Roman Catholic and Lutheran communities. He was an active member of St. Gabrielle's Catholic Church, where he was deeply involved in managing the church's finances. His faith guided his life and grounded his family.

Everyone who knew Brian knew of his love for cigars. At his nephew Taylor Swim's wedding, once he heard there was a cigar bar, he made a beeline for it and spent the rest of the evening enjoying it. A true connoisseur, his favorite were the Cubanos.

Brian loved the desert. He loved watching sunsets while listening to music and smoking a cigar. He enjoyed building bonfires, once creating one so large with his daughters that the Fire Department had to come have a conversation with him about keeping future fires smaller.

Words cannot fully capture the life Brian lived or the many lives he impacted. He will be remembered for his generosity with his time, his resources, and his love. He was welcoming, protective, and deeply devoted to those he cared about.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edith Goebel. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rozenah; his daughters, Victoria and Alexandria; his nephew, Taylor Swim; and his sister, Janet Swim.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Living Waters Lutheran Church. Donations to St. Vincent de Paul would be greatly appreciated.
