Doris Jean Smith Pelphrey, age 86, of Paintsville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.
Doris was born May 31, 1938, in Johnson County, Kentucky daughter of the late Jeff Smith and Zora Hamilton Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, William Wallace, and three sisters, Nora Smith Sparks, Ethel Smith Ratliff, Gay Smith Skaggs, and Finetta Smith Blevins.
She is survived by two sons, Garrett David Pelphrey of Paintsville, Kentucky and Kevin Ray (Jennifer) Pelphrey of River, Kentucky; one brother William Smith of Red Bush, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Summer Pelphrey, William Garrett Pelphrey, McKenna Pelphrey Judd, and Morgan Grant Pelphrey.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Bob Williams and Aaron Penix officiating. Burial will follow at Wright–Smith Cemetery, Red Bush, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024.
