Dorla Hershberger Obituary

Dorla Kay Oswald Yeackley Hershberger passed from earth to her heavenly home February 19, 2026.

She was born July 29, 1934 in Beaver Crossing, NE to Jacob R. and Mabel Oswald on the hottest day of the year. Dorla Kay (as her mother called her) loved school - attending 12 years at Beaver Crossing where she was active in drama and cheerleading and music.

Archie Yeackley came into her life during her sophomore year and they were married in October following graduation in May. Together they had two daughters, Jyl Susanne and Janna Kae. After an untimely farm accident that left her widowed with two young girls she leaned on her faith and family and started a new chapter.

She married Tillman Hershberger two years later on January 1, 1959. The adjustment to rural life began in Casselton, North Dakota. Three children were added, Judith Jeanine, Jennifer Lee, and J Daniel. She loved her family and was devoted fully to them.

An established pre-school was offered to her after they moved to Hesston, KS which she taught for ten years. Later on Dorla decided to go back to school and became a registered nurse. She loved people and learning. Prayer became her heart as she trusted God to lead her life. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. Each added child was a gift from God.
