Edna Deppen Obituary

Edna "Eddy Lou" Deppen passed away on September 27, 2024, in the arms of her family in Oregon, at the age of 95. Born in 1929 to Alfred Garner and Anna Fay, Eddy Lou was raised on the Fay ranch in Etna, California, until the age of 12, along with her brother George. She attended McConaughy and Callahan schools.
In 1946, Eddy Lou married Harold Edward Deppen after his return from the war, and the couple made their home on Main Street in Etna, where they raised their three children: Sharon, Judith, and William. Alongside raising her family, Eddy Lou also managed the Siskiyou County payroll department with her dear friend Nadja, eventually retiring from the county.
She was active in the community as a 4-H sewing instructor, was active in PTA and softball. She also loved singing with the Sweet Adelines barbershop group. After becoming widowed, she began a second career as a massage therapist, continuing to live life fully.
Eddy Lou is preceded in death by her husband Harold and her daughter Sharon Simmons. She is survived by her daughter Jude Davis, her son Bill Deppen, eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and soon-to-be nine great-great-grandchildren.
Eddy Lou spent her life as a mentor, friend, and surrogate family to many. She was a shining light and will be dearly missed.
