Edward Grinovich Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Campbell Funeral Home - Beverly on Oct. 29, 2024.
Edward Peter Grinovich was born January 28, 1951 and passed away on October 24, 2024. He is survived by the love of his life, the person whom he sold his motorcycle for in order to afford an engagement ring, his best friend and wife of 51 years, Maryanna Kathryn Grinovich. He is also survived by their children Adam Eugene Grinovich and his wife Annika Cecilia Pettersson, and Kristina Grinovich Minear and her husband Chris William Minear and their son, Caleb Adam Minear. Ed was a loving father, grampy, and doting husband.
Ed's life was a challenge to death, surviving infant meningitis, catastrophic motorcycle accidents, colon cancer, and a myriad of other ailments. Neither disease nor traumas stopped him, as witnessed by his weekly visits to his dear friend Wally Godfrey and cousin Charles Grinovich. Ed was a high school football center, raced motocross, rebuilt engines, studied English literature, started businesses, and loved going to see the Nutcracker with his family each Christmas. He enjoyed spending weekends at the family's condo in Vermont and was a good shot at the range. He could throw a frisbee true, drive a golf ball with proficiency, catch fish from a stream, had good taste in jewelry and watches, roll start a manual drive car, and select a good cigar.
Son of a lobsterman, Ed's culinary capabilities were showcased in his famous lobster salad sandwiches, baked scallops, and shrimp scampi. He loved Jackson Pollack, Miles Davis, and Warren Zevon, and always encouraged his children to be authentically and unabashedly themselves, to commit random acts of kindness whenever possible, and to "cut easy and heal fast." His quick, dry wit and sarcasm lives on in both his children, as does his mantra of never giving up.
Ed spent his retirement years working part time at Eastern Cycles and as a crossing guard for Buker Elementary School. He loved kids and was heartbroken anytime he heard about a sick child.
A celebration of Ed's life will be held at the family's home in Beverly on November 2nd, from 2-5pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ed's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly.
