Evelyn Charbonneau Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A.W. Rich Funeral Home - Fairfax on Mar. 5, 2026.
Evelyn June Charbonneau, 97, died peacefully at her home on February 25, 2026. She was born June 15, 1928, one of eight children to Clarence and Elva LaRock, all of whom predeceased her. June was a lifetime resident of Stowe and graduated from Stowe High School in 1946. She married John Charbonneau, a WWII veteran, also of Stowe, in 1947. Together they built her current home in 1955 and, from the 1960s to the 1980s, operated Charbonneau Guest House. She and John were founding members of Blessed Sacrament Church when it was built in 1948, and she remained active in the parish all her life. John passed away in 1987.

June was an avid and accomplished skier until a ski accident in the early 1960s resulted in a severely broken leg that never completely healed and curtailed her skiing. She loved to entertain and was an excellent cook. She made the most of her birthday every year, celebrating for the entire month. She was known for her epic garage sales. She was much loved by her family and many friends.

June is survived by her daughter, Susan Tidwell, and her husband Bill (North Richland Hills, TX); her sons, John Claude Charbonneau and wife Bernice (Rutland, VT), and Steven Charbonneau (Las Vegas, NV); eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church on March 10 at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. Interment will be later in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Blessed Sacrament Church (Joseph Dutton Guild - www.bscvt.com/joseph-dutton), Lamoille Home Health & Hospice (54 Farr Ave., Morrisville, VT), or a charity of your choice.
