Geraldine "Gerry" Shelton Carroll Hahn, age 91, of
Palestine, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, the 10th day of January 2025, at TruCare Living Centers in Palestine. Mrs. Hahn was born on the 21st day of September 1933 in Brownsboro, Texas to parents Alvie Floyd Shelton and Mary Belle Barton. Mrs. Hahn attended various schools in Corsicana and Athens and graduated from Corsicana High School in 1952. After graduation she went to work for the State National Bank in Corsicana where she met and married James Lindall Carroll of Wortham, Texas on the 19th day of September 1953. While living in Corsicana, they were blessed with two daughters.
In 1957, the family moved to
Palestine, Texas. In 1964, they were blessed with a third daughter. Mrs. Hahn loved being a stay-at-home mom and staying active in the P.T.A. and other school activities for her daughters. She enjoyed sewing for them and as they grew older, she passed on her talents and taught them to cook and sew. Her thoughtful nature was evident in every dish she prepared and every stitch she sewed.
After all her daughters graduated from high school, Mrs. Hahn made a lasting impact on the lives of countless students as a resource aide for Westwood I.S.D. She was also a cherished member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ, where she faithfully attended services until her health declined.
Described by those who knew her as loving, kind, and thoughtful, Mrs. Hahn's presence was a source of comfort and happiness. Her memory will be cherished, and her influence will continue to be felt by those who were fortunate enough to have experienced her profound kindness. Mrs. Hahn's life was a beautiful tapestry of selfless acts and enduring love, and she will be deeply missed by all.
Mrs. Hahn is preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Mable Shelton; husband James Carroll, who passed away on the 6th day of February 1991; husband James "Jim" N. Hahn, who passed away on the 15th day of April 2015; and her brother Orville Shelton, who passed away on the 1st day of June 2020.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Helm and husband Timothy of Elkhart, Texas; grandchildren, Andres Flores, Jimmy Flores and wife Kendra, Doug Helm and wife Erin and Brenna Helm; great-grandchildren, Trevor Flores and wife Sarah, Alex Flores, Anna Wilmeth and husband Tristyn, Aron Flores, Eden Flores, Elijah Flores, Madison Spain and husband Jacob, Alivia Helm, Asher Helm, August Helm and Jared Calvert.
