Grace Vance Obituary

Grace Carolyn Vance, born May 13, 1945, in Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully in the evening of January 31, 2025. A beloved mother, sister, and friend, Grace brought warmth, creativity, and a touch of quirkiness to all who knew her.
As one of ten siblings, she was the second oldest and the eldest sister--a role she embraced with love and strength. From an early age, Grace had a gift for entertaining, delighting her family with skits and plays as a child. Her artistic spirit remained a defining part of her life, as she found joy in ceramics, quilting, and sewing. She also had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing whenever she had the chance.
Grace was a mother of four children: Johnny, Kathy, Ann, and James. She spent most of her life in Palestine, Texas, where she worked tirelessly and retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), leaving behind a legacy of dedication and resilience.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann; her brothers, Norman McMillan and Gary Wayne. She leaves behind a loving family and countless cherished memories.
Grace's presence in the lives of those who knew her was a blessing, and while she will be deeply missed, her love and laughter will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
