Gregory Mark Stringham
December 28, 1944 – February 24, 2026
Gregory Mark Stringham was born on December 28, 1944, in
Salt Lake City, Utah to Mark Wimmer Stringham and Ruth Robins Stringham. He spent much of his childhood in Lodi, California where the foundations of his lifelong faith were quietly formed.
As a young man, Gregory served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central States Mission, laboring mostly in Kentucky. That season of service deepened his testimony and shaped the spiritual rhythm of his life.
He later attended Brigham Young University, where he earned his bachelor's degree. During that time, he met his first wife, Beverly Smith. Together they welcomed five children: June, Lisa, Kay, Mark, and Carolyn. Though their marriage later ended in divorce, his love for his children remained part of his life's story.
Gregory later married Merrily Harston, whom he adored. They spent the remainder of his life together and, following his retirement, served a mission side by side. Sharing their faith in this way brought meaning and companionship to their later years.
Gregory found joy in the scriptures, in poetry, in the best dad jokes ever, and in quiet expressions of faith. His sense of humor was one of his most endearing traits. He valued example more than words and sought to live his beliefs in simple, consistent ways. He was patient, humble, and kind, often extending grace and giving others the benefit of the doubt.
Epilepsy brought challenges, particularly with speech and social interaction. Yet in sacred settings he felt peace. In holy spaces he was calm and expressive, and those moments reflected the depth of his devotion. During difficult times, his first response was prayer-to bend a knee and bow his head.
Gregory loved his family to the best of his ability. He will be remembered for his gentleness, his reverence, his humor, and the quiet faith that carried him throughout his life.
Gregory is survived by his wife, Merrily, his brother, Kent Stringham, his sisters Melanie Peine & LaNae Morrill, his children, June Haskell, Lisa Adams, Kay Frizzell, Mark Stringham, & Carolyn Seney, her children, Mindy Sutton, Mitzi Jones, & Marshal Corwin, several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at the Lehi City Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held afterwards at: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 700 East 900 North ~
