Jackie McCarty Obituary

Jackie Harold McCarty, Sr., 84, of Plainfield, Indiana passed away on January 10, 2025. He was born on April 22, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Donald and Dessie Katherine McCarty. He grew up in Martinsville, IN, and was a graduate of the class of 1958 at Martinsville High School and later on attended Franklin College.
He was a US Navy veteran who served from 1964 to 1968. He was proud to have served on the U.S.S. English during his Navy years. After the Navy, he was a preacher at Brooklyn First Church of the Nazarene.
He enjoyed Cars, Football, Traveling, Fishing, and spending time with Friends and Family. He was a member of the American Legion, Northwest Masonic Lodge 770, Murat Shriners, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and Corvette Club. He retired from GM Alison Transmission after 58 years in 2018.
He is survived by his children, Jack McCarty, Jr. (Diane), Mark McCarty, Brian McCarty, Stepson, Jacob Farr; siblings, Patricia Hicks (Jerry), Pricilla Pratt (David), Lillian Robinson (Paul), David McCarty (Victoria); stepbrother, Wilbur McCarty, significant other, Judith Summers; grandchildren, Camryn McCarty, Grace and Gabrielle McCarty, and step-grandchildren, Lauren Dunn, and Andrew (McKenzie) Dunn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife, Janet Neal McCarty, and wife, Theresa McCarty.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, January 18th, from 11 to 1 p.m., with service following at G.H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN. He will be laid to rest at Bluff Creek Cemetery.
