Jeffrey Carter Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 26, 2024.
Jeffrey R. Carter, age 68, of Chicago, Illinois passed away on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife Lucy (nee Popek); his children Jason (Stephanie Garcia Carter) Carter and Stephanie Carter. Siblings Cathy (Mike) Fugate, and Ronald (Diane) Carter as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Son of the late Oscar Carter and Irene (nee Luka) and sister Jane Burke.
Jeff was always active, helping his family and friends, attending any sports events, birthday parties and celebrating his family and friends milestones. During spring you could find Jeff planning his next fishing trip and during the fall/winter he was always watching the Chicago Bears play, and keeping up with his fantasy football team.
While we lost our most beloved dad, many have lost a friend and loved one. He has been a rock to many. He was the true meaning of kindness because no matter what happened in your life, once you were marked as important to him he'd be by your side if you needed him. There was so much more to him than just dad, though, to us that was his greatest role - he was also a friend, a coworker and colleague, a cousin, brother, stand-in paternal figure to the fatherless, a proof reader, tech guy, fishing buddy, pool guy, the list goes on and on.
Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Jeffrey that will be held on Friday, April 5th, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Blake Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453. A funeral to follow on Saturday, April 6th, 2024 at St. Daniel the Prophet, 5300 South Natoma Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60638, Interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
