Joseph Martin Stenson, 91, of Newark, died at Courtyard of Newark on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. He was born in Moxahala, Ohio on September 30, 1932, to the late Martin and Rose (Forquer) Stenson.
Joe, a graduate of Moxahala High School, was a United States Navy Veteran and longtime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He retired from Mattingly Foods following a 50-year career in food sales. In his retirement, Joe was an active volunteer with Licking Memorial Hospital working as a greeter and hospitality driver.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Mark (Diane) Stenson, John (Angela) Stenson, Martha Stenson, Ellen Stenson (Jeff), and Lee Ann (Bruce) Slicker; daughter-in-law, Meg McCormick; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings, twin brother Paul Stenson, Helen Nash, and Rosemary (Jack) Albert; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris (Snyder) Stenson; son, William Stenson; daughter, MaryAnn Stenson; brother, Patrick (Geneva) Stenson; and brother-in-law, Tom Nash.
Graveside services will be held in New Lexington Cemetery at a later date.
