Julio Gomez Obituary

Julio Martinez Gomez, born on May 12, 1949, in Colonia Esperanza D.B., passed away on March 13, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. Julio was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and uncle whose life was defined by devotion to family, hard work, and humor.

Visitation will be held March 18, 2025, at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend 301 N. Main Street, Fort Stockton, TX from 2:00pm-9:00pm. Rosary will be at 7:00pm. There will be a second visitation on March 19, 2025, beginning at 10:00AM; there will be a second rosary at 7:00pm; there will be an all-night vigil following the rosary. Funeral service will be held March 20, 2025, starting at 10:00am at St. Jospeh's Catholic Church 403 S. Main Street Fort Stockton, Texas with Burial to follow. Julio found the love of his life, Maria Avelina Gomez, in 1990. Together, they built a life rooted in love and dedication. Julio raised his family in Fort Stockton, Texas, where he worked for many years as a roustabout and later as a chemist at Belding Farms. He was known for his strong work ethic, creativity, and vibrant sense of humor. He loved a good laugh and always found joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Julio was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Eduardo and Juvencia Gomez; his siblings Ignacio, Santiago, Guadalupe, Juan, Narciso, Manuela, and Ramona; and his son Guillermo (Willie) Gomez. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Gomez; his children Julio Gomez (wife Angela Gomez), Ivan Gomez (wife Erika Gomez), and Clara Rubio (husband Santos Rubio); his sisters Sophia and Amalia; ten grandchildren Alexis Franco, Clayton Mireles, Sariah Gomez, Eduardo Vela, Lailah Gomez, Jeremiah Vela, Siennah Vela, Sara Hernandez, Victoria Hernandez, and Kalix Gomez; and two great-grandchildren Nazeli Urias and Zailynn Franco and several nieces and nephews.

In his later years, Julio enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his bike. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Julio fue un esposo, padre, abuelo, bisabuelo, hijo, hermano y tío amoroso, cuya vida estuvo marcada por la dedicación a su familia, su arduo trabajo y su sentido del humor.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el 18 de marzo de 2025 en Heritage Funeral Home de Big Bend 301 N. Main Street, Fort Stockton, TX de 2:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m. El rosario será a las 19:00 horas. Habrá una segunda visitación el 19 de marzo de 2025, a partir de las 10:00 a.m.; habrá un segundo rosario a las 19:00 horas; se llevara un velacion de toda la noche después del rosario. El servicio funerario se llevará a cabo el 20 de marzo de 2025 a partir de las 10:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica de St. Jospeh, 403 S. Julio encontró al amor de su vida, María Avelina Gómez, en 1990. Juntos, construyeron una vida basada en el amor y la dedicación. Julio crió a su familia en Fort Stockton, Texas, donde trabajó durante muchos años como vagabundo y más tarde como químico en Belding Farms. Era conocido por su fuerte ética de trabajo, creatividad y vibrante sentido del humor. Le encantaba reír y siempre encontraba alegría en los placeres simples de la vida.

En sus años mayores, Julio disfrutaba pasar tiempo con su familia y montar en bicicleta. Deja un legado de amor, alegría y fortaleza que vivirá por siempre en los corazones de quienes lo conocieron.
