Julio Martinez Gomez, born on May 12, 1949, in Colonia Esperanza D.B., passed away on March 13, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. Julio was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and uncle whose life was defined by devotion to family, hard work, and humor.

Visitation will be held March 18, 2025, at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend 301 N. Main Street, Fort Stockton, TX from 2:00pm-9:00pm. Rosary will be at 7:00pm. There will be a second visitation on March 19, 2025, beginning at 10:00AM; there will be a second rosary at 7:00pm; there will be an all-night vigil following the rosary. Funeral service will be held March 20, 2025, starting at 10:00am at St. Jospeh's Catholic Church 403 S. Main Street Fort Stockton, Texas with Burial to follow. Julio found the love of his life, Maria Avelina Gomez, in 1990. Together, they built a life rooted in love and dedication. Julio raised his family in Fort Stockton, Texas, where he worked for many years as a roustabout and later as a chemist at Belding Farms. He was known for his strong work ethic, creativity, and vibrant sense of humor. He loved a good laugh and always found joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Julio was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Eduardo and Juvencia Gomez; his siblings Ignacio, Santiago, Guadalupe, Juan, Narciso, Manuela, and Ramona; and his son Guillermo (Willie) Gomez. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Gomez; his children Julio Gomez (wife Angela Gomez), Ivan Gomez (wife Erika Gomez), and Clara Rubio (husband Santos Rubio); his sisters Sophia and Amalia; ten grandchildren Alexis Franco, Clayton Mireles, Sariah Gomez, Eduardo Vela, Lailah Gomez, Jeremiah Vela, Siennah Vela, Sara Hernandez, Victoria Hernandez, and Kalix Gomez; and two great-grandchildren Nazeli Urias and Zailynn Franco and several nieces and nephews.

In his later years, Julio enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his bike. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.


Julio Martinez Gomez, nacido el 12 de mayo de 1949 en Colonia Esperanza D.B., falleció el 13 de marzo de 2025 en Lubbock, Texas, rodeado de sus seres queridos. Julio fue un esposo, padre, abuelo, bisabuelo, hijo, hermano y tío amoroso, cuya vida estuvo marcada por la dedicación a su familia, su arduo trabajo y su sentido del humor.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el 18 de marzo de 2025 en Heritage Funeral Home de Big Bend 301 N. Main Street, Fort Stockton, TX de 2:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m. El rosario será a las 19:00 horas. En sus años mayores, Julio disfrutaba pasar tiempo con su familia y montar en bicicleta. Deja un legado de amor, alegría y fortaleza que vivirá por siempre en los corazones de quienes lo conocieron.
