Lorraine Sherman Obituary

Lorraine W. Sherman, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Saratoga Hospital on January 19, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on March 6, 1937, in Kingston, NY, to William and Alma Wolff, Lorraine grew up in Schenectady, NY. She attended schools in the Capital District, including the Albany School of Business, before settling in Rock City Falls, NY.

Lorraine was employed by many local businesses, but none more important than Sherman Tile in Ballston Spa, where she found love, family, and adventure with Chuck Sherman. Married in 1976, Lorraine and Chuck created a beautiful, blended family of 5 sons: Charles (Lorrie) Sherman, Richard (Nancy) Sherman, John (Barbara) Stephenson, Joseph Sherman (deceased), and Peter (Stacey) Stephenson.

Together, Lorraine and Chuck dedicated their talents and professionalism to building their tile business, working side by side for many years. They were active members of the community, especially with the Chamber of Commerce and Simpson United Methodist Church. Lorraine and Chuck also enjoyed traveling all over the country with friends and family, with Ogunquit, ME, holding a special place in their hearts.

The Shermans loved hosting lively gatherings at their tile shop, "down at the pond," and at their "beautiful home on the hill." They welcomed everyone with open arms, never meeting a stranger and effortlessly embodied the true spirit of love, kindness and good old-fashioned fun. Sadly, Lorraine lost her beloved Chuck in August of 2021.

Along with her four surviving sons, Lorraine is survived by countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. Known for her gift of storytelling and beautiful penmanship, Lorraine could turn a simple letter or card into a work of art. Anyone who loved her surely received a newspaper clipping or birthday card with a heartfelt note, signed "God Bless You" - now a cherished memento that will forever hold her memory close. She will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, January 27, from 3pm to 5pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service will be held at 5pm. Burial will be in Galway Village Cemetery in the Spring.
