New Iberia, LA - A Homegoing Celebration of Life for Mrs. Mary Louise Henry, 100, the former Mary Louise Brown, will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church (414 Weeks Street). Pastor T.J. Andrus will officiate the service.
She will await the resurrection in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery (Hazard Road) in New Iberia, LA (Petit'Anse).
Mary Louise Henry, a beloved native of Avery Island, LA, and a lifelong resident of New Iberia, LA, was born on July 18, 1924. She departed this life on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 1:45 PM at her residence.
Mary Louise accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful and active member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for many years where she was in the Woman's Choir, the Quilting Ministry, and a volunteer for the food pantry. She was also a member of the Legendary Stitch and Chat Social Club.
Fondly known as "Louise," her favorite things to do were cooking, sewing, and playing bingo. She deeply loved her family and was always willing to gather with them whenever possible. Upon completing 26 years of service as a Dietary Technician with the Iberia Parish School Board System, she retired in 1986. After her retirement she enjoyed being helpful to anyone in need. Her family and friends meant everything to her and yet she never met a stranger. Our beloved Louise will be missed beyond what words can express.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Peggy H. Jean-Batiste (Lawrence) of New Iberia, LA, and Beverly A. Hall of Stockton, CA; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Louis H. Henry; her beloved daughter, Bernadette Alexander Bartie; her parents, Nick Brown and Julia Green Brown; four brothers, Wilson Brown, Jospeh Brown, Paul Brown, and Sanders Brown; and four sisters, Lillie Mae Latulas, Magdalena Thompson, Dorothy Sims, and Mabel Brown.
Active Pallbearers are Ronald Alexander, Sr., Karen Bennett, Brittany Bennett, Demetrius Travis, Victor Jennings, and Joseph B. Dupree.
Honorary Pallbearers are Ronald Alexander, Jr., Kyhemia Alexander, Donald Vincent, Royce Beyonce, Daquan Benjamin, Lawrence Jean-Batiste, Jamall Hurst, and Rubin Sims.
Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.fletcherfunerahomes.org
Most sacred arrangements are entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Home (337-369-3341), 609 W. Admiral Doyle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560.
