Mildred Burkett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roberts of Ocala East Chapel on Feb. 17, 2026.
On February 11, 2026. Mildred Laverne Burkett went to be with the Lord.

Mildred was a wife, mother, Nanny and friend to many.

She was married to Marvin Burkett for 73 years. They are now together again in Heaven.

Together they had six children. Judy Poppell, Marvin Eugene Burkett JR. aka Gene, Michael Burkett, Paula Burkett Whitehead, Ricky Burkett and Willie Burkett.

She was called Nanny by 17 grandkids, 25 great grandkids and 11 great-great grandkids.

Her parents were Paul White and Dortha White of Truman Arkansas. She had four sisters. Lucille Schiessl, Margaret Sutterfield, Geraldene Conrad (Raymond Conrad), and Wendy Ayers (Howard Ayers), two brothers William (Billy) White Mauren White and Kenneth Paul White (Mary Helen White).

Mildred attended Palm Beach Jr College in Belle Glade Fl where she achieved an AA degree in accounting. She spent many years as bookkeeper at Willits store in South Bay. In the early 1970's the family moved to Clewiston. Shortly after the move Mildred went to work at Hendry General Hospital, where she spent more than 20 years before Retiring as the Head of the Business Office

After retiring she and Marvin moved from Clewiston to Summerfield Fl. Where they enjoyed the rest of their days watching their grandchildren grow up and watched their children enjoy the privilege of raising their kids and enjoy the grandness of being grandparents too.

Mildreds life was not always easy, as she was raised on a farm in Arkansas during the depression.

Married and moved hundreds of miles from home with her husband the love of God and a dream. She had six children; she was proud that they all turned out to be great people. Life was hard but good. She and Marvin had 73 years of togetherness through good time and bad. Then Marvin went to be with the Lord in December 2023, and their daughter Judy followed her dad to Heaven in January 2024

But you never had to wonder if they knew how blessed they were, they did. God Blesses us all every day and He always will. That was their belief and it showed.
