Miriam Jones Obituary

Miriam Joyce "Granny" Jones, 91, went to her heavenly home on January 28, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Joyce was born on August 26,1934, in Groveland, FL to Jesse and Miriam Hunt. She graduated from Groveland High School in 1952, where she retired from as a school bus driver from 1973-1989. She and her late husband moved to Tennessee in 1989. She began driving a school bus for Monroe County until 2018, as well as working in the lunchroom at Sweetwater High School. Joyce was a devout Christian and a member of Victory Baptist Church. She was known for being strong-willed, sometimes stubborn, and very devoted to her family. She cherished her role as mother and "Granny". The love she had for her family was unwavering.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Ron "Granddaddy" Jones; four brothers, four sisters, and five grandbabies.

Joyce is survived by her children, BJ Renk, Frank (Peggy) Massey, Robert Massey, Michael (Diane) Massey, Regina (Eddie) Jones, Vernon (Bridgett) Brown and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater from 5:00P.M. until 7:00P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 P.M in Kyker's Chapel with Rev. Chad Hester officiating. Interment 12:00 noon Wednesday in the Sweetwater Memorial Park.
