Nelson "Anthony" Montgomery
November 14, 1962 – January 20, 2025
With his family by his side, Anthony Montgomery passed peacefully and eternally into the presence of the Lord on January 20, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He was a devoted follower of Christ and the love he received was shared with his precious family and a multitude of friends.
He is survived by his wife Denise of Madison, daughter Nina (Nathan) of Owens Cross Roads, AL and granddaughters Paisley and Hazle; mother Maggie of Bay Springs, MS, sister Brenda of Statesville, NC; nephews and nieces Ryan (Melony) of Birmingham, MI, Tim of Battle Mountain, NV, Dustin (Crystal) of Statesville, NC, Stacy (Chris) of Hattiesburg, MS, and Kayla of Andalusia, AL; great nephews and nieces Austin, Kaylee, Hannah, Daniel, Kelsey, and Willow. He will also be sorely missed by his brother-in-law Dan (Jenny) of Richton, MS and sister-in-law Carmen of Lafayette, LA. He joins in Heaven his father Jack of Bay Springs, MS, his brother-in-law Chuck of Statesville, NC and his brother-in-law Harold of West Fork, AR.
Anthony was born in Laurel, MS, graduated from Bay Springs High School; received his Biomedical Technologist's degree from Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. He began his career in Charleston, SC with Servicemaster at the St. Joseph's Hospital and completed his career of 38 years with Block Imaging. He loved the relationships with his co-workers and enjoyed leading teams to "take care of the customer". Many of these friendships were ongoing until his passing.
He loved his church family at Colonial Heights and Trace Ridge where he served as a deacon, a Students Life Group administrator and enjoyed filming the church services. Throughout his walk with Jesus and especially during his illness, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.
He met his "bride" Denise in Life Group, they married in 1991, and their Nina joined them in 1995. In addition to being a loving husband, father, "Unc" and Poppie, he loved deer hunting, North Carolina Tar Heels, riding his tractor, traveling with Denise and Nina, fishing and hunting with his son-in-law and doing whatever his granddaughters wanted to do. He stands in our hearts as a reminder of faith during suffering, an acceptor of God's strength in his weakness, and as a man who chose to give God glory in his illness. Though we will mourn his loss daily, we know we will be reunited in time.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 5pm-7pm and Friday, January 24, 2025, from 10:30 am-11:30 am at Colonial Heights Baptist Church,
Ridgeland, MS. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:30 am at the same location.
