Robert Reed Obituary

Robert Junior "Sam" Reed Sr., age 83 a resident of Philippi, passed from this life peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday November 2, 2022, at West Virginia Caring Hospice Center, of Elkins following an extended illness.
He was born into this life on February 1,1939, at his home place in Clemtown, near Philippi, WV. A son to the late Robert Reed, and Clarindia (Mitchell) Reed.
Surviving are his children; Susie Reed, and partner Jesse Delauder, Virginia "Jenny" Reed, and partner Larry Malone, Vicky Reed, and Warren Lee Reed, and wife Peggy Reed; grandchildren, Michael Reed, Kimberly Croy, and husband David Croy, Christina Starkey, and husband William Starkey, Jamilynn Long, and husband Christopher Long, James Newlon, Thomas Newlon, Kaylie Reed, Alex Reed, Cody Myers, Jessica Bolyard, and husband Charles Bolyard, Natasha Reed, Robert Junior Reed III, Andrew Alan Reed, and Clarindia Coyle; several great grandchildren; siblings, Richard Reed, James Reed, Mary Ann Reed, Edna Mae Robinson, and Peggy Stevens; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by a son, Robert Junior Reed II, siblings, William B. Reed, Alva Lee Reed, Kenneth Reed, David Lee Reed, Toleda Summerfield, Loretta Reed, and Holly Brown Reed, and special friend, and companion Charlene Newman.
Mr. Reed served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. He was a Christian by faith and attended the Philippi Church of God. Sam worked at the Box Factory of Grafton, Belington IGA, and he was a former Funeral Assistant for Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel which was in Belington, and Stemple and Forman Funeral Home which was in Philippi. Sam loved to hunt, fish, and mow grass with his good friend June Croston. He was an outgoing person who never met a stranger and would speak to anyone he encountered. He is going to be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends at the Kittle Family Funeral Home, 265 Beech Ave., Philippi, on Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 4 pm until 8 pm, and again on Monday, November 7, 2022, from 8 am until 11 am. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend W.E. Rhorabacher officiating, and interment will follow in the Clemetown Cemetery. The Kittle Family Funeral Home, 265 Beech Ave., Philippi is honored to be assisting the Reed family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the Reed family has asked that contributions be made to the funeral home to offset some of the cost of their father's funeral arrangements.
