Virginia Young Obituary

Virginia Mitchell Young was at home where she waited for the angels to take her from her earthly life to meet her eternal Lord on Sunday, June 16th, 2024. At that very moment a new and glorious life began for Virginia, to some of her special friends, Ginny. She left giving thanks for the 98 years of life she had been blessed with, always giving thanks to her family, her friends and her church. She loved the joy of life surrounded by her loved ones and good friends of all ages.
Virginia was born and lived the first part of her married life in the Mississippi Delta then moved to Jackson where she enjoyed Broadmoor Baptist Church, her bridge groups and rallying around the young people that came into her life, being part of her family.
She volunteered for 30 years at the MS Baptist Hospital, giving back to the hospital that took such good care of the love of her life, her husband Henry. She was active, and loved dearly, her Broadmoor Baptist Church and her Sunday School class. She was deeply touched by the love, attention and affectionate notes she received from the many people in her life.
A Celebration of Virginia's life will be held Tuesday, June 18th, 2024 at 11 o'clock a.m. in the Chapel of Broadmoor Baptist Church. Visitation will be at the Chapel prior to the service, beginning at 10 o'clock a.m. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale on Wednesday, the 19th, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
Preceding her into God's nearer presence were husband, Henry Young; daughter Deborah Lee Young; parents Lera and Cluff Mitchell; brothers Harold and Estel Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Sharon and John McNeely and other precious nieces and nephews.
