Marilyn Lorraine Ingerson, 87, of Cheshire, CT, the widow of Roy R. Ingerson, to whom she was married for 54 years, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Marilyn was born in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret (Dillon) McHugh. She lived in Waterbury and attended Wilby High School Class of 1956. She graduated from Mount Ida Junior College Class of 1958. Marilyn worked for many years as part of her father's family business, Royal Screw Machine Products, before leaving to devote her attention to raising her family.
Marilyn was a lifelong lover of books, puzzles, music, and dancing. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and cheering on UConn Basketball. She found joy in hosting holiday gatherings that created lasting family traditions. As a Girl Scout and talented dancer in her youth, Marilyn's warmth and energy touched everyone around her.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Lorraine Nelson and her husband, Phillip, of New Jersey; Ann Nemphos and her husband, James, of Cheshire; Roy Ingerson Jr. and his wife, Jessica, of Canton; and Karen Ingerson of Cheshire. She is also survived by her brother, John McHugh Sr. and his wife, Joy, of Cheshire; and her nine grandchildren, Keith, Alexis, Charlie, Ryan, Zachary, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Emma, and Olivia. She was predeceased by her son, James Ingerson; her daughter, Susan Ingerson; and her brother, Leo McHugh Sr.
Friends may greet Marilyn's family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410 on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. At 11 a.m. her funeral service will begin at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, by visiting www.heart.org.
