Julia "Julie" Lee Chase Libby, 83, of
Trappe, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026, and entered into the loving arms of Jesus, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.
Julie was born on April 17, 1942, in
Salisbury, Maryland, to Harvey Chase and Eleanor Wilson Chase. She was lovingly raised by her mother and stepfather, Dean Wiggins, whom she loved deeply and considered an amazing father.
She attended Pinehurst Elementary School and Wi Jr. and Wi Sr. High School, graduating with the Class of 1960. She later attended Goldey Beacom College before proudly enlisting in the United States Air Force, serving from July 1962 to July 1966. Julie was incredibly proud of her service and her status as a veteran.
While working as a civilian at Dover Air Force Base, she met, fell in love with, and married Robert Libby. The couple moved to his home state of Maine, where they welcomed their daughter, Jennifer Anne Libby. Not long after, Julie and Jennifer returned to
Salisbury, Maryland, where Julie began a 30-year career with C & P Telephone Company, Bell Atlantic, and later Verizon, retiring after decades of dedicated service.
Julie loved retirement and treasured living in Trappe close to her family. She enjoyed being active in her community and was a member of the White Marsh Elementary School Grandparents Club, Lady Patriots of the Eastern Shore, the G2 Growth Group, Ladies Tuesday Bible Study, and the Needle and Thread Group. She especially cherished her Wi Hi Class of 1960 girls' luncheons. Julie was also a beloved and faithful member of Talbot Bible Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenny, and son-in-law, Eddie; her cherished grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Ginga": Jason Moore; Bradley Moore (Crystal Rodgers); and Shelby Moore (Abraham Webb), all of Trappe. She was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Aubree Allen, Dean Moore, and Everlee Moore. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Chase (Karen Chase) of Havre de Grace.
Ginga lived a simple life centered on faith and family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She never forgot a birthday and was often more excited to watch them open their gifts than they were to receive them. She had the biggest, most loving and giving heart.
A viewing will be held Friday, February 20, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Talbot Bible Church on Chapel Road in
Easton, Maryland, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
