It is with shattered hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, grandson and friend, Matthew Dylan Lopez Israel, age 22 years old, passed on Saturday February 7th, 2026. Matthew was a bright light in this world, known for his smarts, big heart, kindness, loyalty to friends and passion for travels, basketball, football, soccer, cooking/ baking, nature, Disneyland, adventures etc. He brought warmth to everyone he met and relished every accomplishment, big or small. Matthew is survived by his loving family Vince, Meldith, Marvin, Vanessa, Mason and his pets/birds - Skittles and Phoenix, relatives far & near and a vast circle of friends, who will immensely miss his intellect and humor every day.
A true force of nature, Matthew was known for his dedication to school and work and his unwavering pursuit of excellence. Matthew graduated from Mary Law Elementary Private School in Oxnard with honors, Santa Clara High School in Oxnard with honors and was an outstanding nursing student at CSUCI, driven by a deep passion for helping others and making a meaningful impact in people's lives. He was set to graduate from CSUCI on May 23, 2026 with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He was especially interested in Emergency and Intensive Care Nursing where he can thrive in high-pressure environments and advocate for patients during their most critical moments. He was planning to gain experience in the acute hospital setting after graduation and subsequently work as a flight nurse for the Air Force.
Matthew believed in the power of compassionate, evidence-based care and strived to connect with patients and their families in a way that promotes healing, trust and dignity. Over the past few years, he had gained valuable experience through volunteering and working in healthcare settings, where he developed strong skills in patient-centered care, teamwork and communication.
Outside of Nursing, he coached elementary and middle school basketball, a role that taught him the importance of mentorship, leadership and patience.
While studying to be a Registered Nurse, Matthew worked part time at Coastal View Healthcare Center and was tremendously loved by his coworkers and patients. He was very caring, professional, detailed-oriented, patient and kind. As a passionate healthcare worker, he was set to achieve great things. He had touched so many lives and everyone (family members, patients, coworkers, classmates, friends or even strangers) has only wonderful things to say about him. He was a wonderful son, a caring big brother to Vanessa and Mason and an amazing friend and classmate. His handsome face and beautiful soul left an imprint in our hearts. Matthew may have left us way too early, but he will stay FOREVER in our HEARTS.
Viewing services to celebrate his incredible life will be held on February 27th 2026 @ 4pm-8pm and February 28th 2026@ 2pm-6pm and Funeral Service on March 2nd 2026 @ 11am at Perez Family Funeral Homes Camarillo CA followed by Interment 1pm @ Conejo Mountain Cemetery Camarillo CA.
