Lenita Barbosa Obituary

Lenita Moniz Barbosa, of Attleboro, was born on June 1, 1971, to her late parents, Noe and Maria (Moniz) Barbosa. Lenita, a spirited and lively soul, passed away too soon on February 23, 2025. As an Attleboro native and graduate of Attleboro High School, she was a familiar and beloved figure. Lenita was known for her contagious laugh that filled every room she entered and made every situation feel a bit lighter. She was always ready with a welcoming hug, a quick sarcastic joke and was truly beautiful inside and out.

Lenita held a Class B driver's license and was a dedicated school bus driver for the Bloom Bus Company since 2008. She also worked at the Mon Kou Restaurant since 2016. Lenita was a devoted member of the former Holy Ghost Church in Attleboro. Her remarkable life was a testament to her loving, thoughtful nature, and her selflessness was evident in her unwavering readiness to assist anyone in need. A gifted cook, Lenita found joy in preparing meals for others, especially her amazing cupcakes, her love for people mirroring in her dishes. She was funny, yet thoughtful, a combination that made her a cherished member of her community. Her presence was a warm beacon of love and generosity, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Lenita is survived by her life partner Jeff Pimental, of Attleboro; her loving daughter, Carisa Hawes, of Attleboro; her two sons, Devon and Nathan Hawes, both of Attleboro; her grandson, Liam Hawes of Attleboro; her brothers, Michael Barbosa of Woonsocket, RI and David Barbosa of New Bedford, MA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro, MA.
