Leslie Gerrie Obituary

Leslie Munro Gerrie, 85, of Norfolk died peacefully March 13 at his home. He was the husband of Sandra K. Gerrie for the past 56 years.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1940, the son of the late Norman and June Gerrie, Leslie had lived in Denver, Colorado and Bethesda, Maryland prior to moving to Norfolk 50 years ago.

Les was a graduate of Allegheny College.

Les had been a manager for the Telephone Company for many years before retiring.

He served in the Army during the late 1950's attaining the rank of Sergeant and was the drill sergeant for the Army Honor Guard presiding over military funerals at Arlington National Cemetery.

He was an avid outdoor sportsman, and enjoyed many wonderful ski vacations in Colorado and Utah with family.

It would not be a surprise to see Les and Sandy on a sunny summer afternoon cruising to their favorite ice cream shop in his Corvette convertible.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Norman Gerrie and his wife Diane of Grafton and Andy Gerrie and his wife Sara of Littleton, Colorado.

He is also survived by his brother Robert D. Gerrie of Polson, Montana.

Les is also survived by his grandchildren, Austin, Taylor, Rachel, Emily and Joe.

A celebration Leslie's life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Dawg Nation Hockey Foundation (www.dawgnation.org)
