Ms. Lavern Nelson was born July 30,1957 in Jackson, Mississippi to the parents of Linzy Williams and Mary Hart. She relocated to Flint, Michigan with her parents and siblings. She was baptized at Foss Avenue Baptist Church an early age. She graduated from Northwestern High School. Later, she pursued a career in nursing working with the elderly. She also had a career as a sales associate in jewelry. Her hobbies were home décor, planting, and sewing. She enjoyed outdoor activities with family, dancing, and singing her favorite song “Simply Beautiful” by Al Green. Her favorite gospel artist is Rance Allen, and her favorite R & B artists are Fantasia and Anthony Hamilton. Ms. Lavern Nelson will always be remembered for her unique sense of humor, making others smile, being a peacemaker, and loving selflessly.
Ms. Lavern Nelson leaves to cherish her memory: son, Jimmy Williams, 3 daughters, Honny (Eric) Williams, Taswala Williams, and Mary (Ryan) Williams, 10 grandchildren, Elache, Sharell, Kierra, Christian, Lavern, Aja, Takio, Marianna, Sanyo, and Giovonni, 10 great-grandchildren, Jada, Davion, Amir, Khloe, Kaiser, Londyn, Legend, Skylar, Ahza and Mahina, 3 sisters, Mary Ann Alexander and Francis Clemons both of Flint, MI, and Bobbie (Darelle) Payne of St. Paul, MN,3 brothers,Larry,Donald and Michael (Monica) Williams all of Flint. A host of nieces, including special nieces, Kensonya Stewart, Ecenyuca Canada, and Del’Andrea Webster all of Flint, MI, special nephews, James Williams Jr. and Aaron Canada both of Flint, MI. A host of cousins including special cousins, Leon Williams, Norene Hopkins of Texas, Gloria Strozier, Shirley Williams both of Flint and Linda Williams of Calif. (bonus sisters).
Ms. Lavern Nelson was preceded in death by her father, Linzy Williams, mother, Mary Hart, brothers, James and Linzy Williams Jr., grandsons, Clarence Coleman Jr. and Dai'veonte Davis, granddaughters, twins Shanise T. Wiliams-Moore and Shantell C. Williams.
The family would like to express special thanks to the family and friends of Lavern Nelson and Nurse Brandi for all the calls, love, support, texts, visits, and prayers.
