Albert Jones Obituary

On October 29, 2025, Mr. Albert Leon Jones at the age of 77, heard the Master say come home, you have fought a good fight, you have finished the course, come home and rest my child. He was born May 30, 1948, to the late Dora Jones and Robert Rhine. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean A. Shands and his brothers, Richard, Bobby and Wendall Jones. 

Albert was a devout leader in his community, and a long-time resident of Hopewell, VA. Albert was affectionately known as "Papadew." Papadew was known to give what he could to those in need and to lend a helping hand to the one he loved and the community. Papadew had a personality that made him easy to love and hard to forget.

Papadew leaves to cherish his loving memories: daughter, Shelia Morse of Hopewell, VA (Larrell and Alvin and seven grandchildren), son, Leon Walker of Hopewell (four children), daughter, Lashonda Sulton of Hopewell, VA (Zaria Sulton, Zeyanna Sulton Solomon and Tiana Gatling and four grandchildren); two loving and devoted brothers, Roanell Jones of Hopewell, VA and Larry Jones of Florida; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. 

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, November 7, 2025, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
