Anna Ruth Baskette March 14, 1945 - August 26, 2024
KINGSPORT - Anna Ruth Baskette, age 79, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 26th, 2024, after a lengthy illness.
She spent all of her childhood in Castlewood, VA, making many fond memories with her family. Those that preceded her in death include her parents, Ernest and Sallie Kate Porter; her daughter, Patricia Stewart; and her older brothers, Cecil (Baine) Porter and Walter (Sandra) Porter.
Anna Ruth enjoyed attending Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Fall Branch, TN until she was no longer able to, but continued to enjoy services by watching online. She was an avid Tennessee Vols fan and would always wear her orange on Saturdays. Anna Ruth was over the moon about the Vols Baseball National Championship this past season and will most likely have a hand in helping us win again next season.
Above everything else, Anna Ruth had an unwavering love for her family and friends. Those that knew her would describe her as sweet and caring. She enjoyed her trips to Randall's for a big breakfast, crossword puzzles, and gardening her flowers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Scott Baskette; her grandchildren, Joe Lane, April Stewart, Amber (Jason) Hungerford, and Brandon (Kayla) Baskette, her soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Arliss Nora Hungerford; one nephew, Terry Porter; her best friend, Judy Dolen; and special friend, Susan Light.
In accordance with Anna Ruth's wishes, the family will hold a private gathering. If you wish to do so, please consider contributing to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her memory.
