Audley Ray Church

GATE CITY, VA - Audley Ray Church, 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Gate City on ­­­­­­­­­­­­June 11, 2025, following an extended illness. He was of the Christian faith.

Audley retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle and spending time with family and friends.

Audley was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lynn Church (May 27, 2025); sisters; Doris and Louella Church; brothers Norman and Alvin Church; and brother-in-law Charlie Starnes.

Audley is survived by a daughter, Debbie Church Skelton, and her husband, Vim; brothers Wayne and Betty Church of Ocala FL; Douglas and Carolyn Church of Naples, FL; Dwight and Linda Church, Bill and Zada Church, both of Kingsport, TN; sister-in-law, Sharon Starnes of Gate City, VA; special nephew, Chris Starnes of Knoxville, TN; special friends and caregivers, Billy Ray Hackney and Lesa Ryan, both of Gate City and several nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to Margie Smith, Kay Folden, Makenna Miller, and Cameron Andrews, who provided care for Audley and Lynn in recent months.

A private graveside service and burial will be held at Church Hill Memory Gardens with Rev. Riley Boy officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to James H. Quillen VAMC, P.O. Box 4000 (135) Mountain Home, TN 37684 to support veterans in memory of Audley.
