NORTON, VA - Barbara Faye Miles Adams "Gran/Granny" entered Heaven on Sunday, March 3, 2024, after a brief illness. Barbara was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sibling, Mentor, Homemaker, and friend to many. She was a devout Christian of the Pentecostal faith who loved and served the Lord her entire life. Barbara attended Trinity Life Center in Coeburn and Norton Pentecostal Church. She was an avid Bible reader and had daily devotions with her Lord and Savior.
Barbara was born on December 16, 1934, to the late Jim and Maxie Miles of Norton, VA. She was also preceded in death by Beryl F. Adams (Husband), Gary F. Adams (son), and siblings: Otis Miles, Annie Roberts, Arnold Miles, Margaret Starnes, David Miles, Everette Miles, and Lewis Miles.
Barbara loved her family and enjoyed spending time or talking on the phone with them. She loved cooking, a clean house, embroidering, and doing puzzles. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her and will leave a lasting impact on those with whom she interacted.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Marcia Adams Gilliam (Marvin) and Kim Adams Gibson (Jerry), daughter-in-law, Debbie Frye Adams, and her beloved granddaughter Madison Adams Jones (Aaron). Surviving sisters-in-law are Phronsie Miles, Marsha Miles, Sue Adams, Louise Snodgrass, and Sue Yarhouse. Barbara is survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family, her church family, and several life-long friends.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the dedicated caregivers for the care they provided Barbara and Dr. Matthew Wilson for his compassionate care as her personal physician.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gary Adams Tennis Scholarship Fund at UVA Wise, One College Avenue, Wise, VA 24293 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105, who Barbara credited along with God for saving Madison's life 20 years ago.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, VA with Rev. Roger Sloce and Rev. Scott Price officiating. Those wanting to follow the procession need to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 pm. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life reception at the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Life Center 9829 Norton Coeburn Road in Coeburn, VA. The pallbearers will be Marvin Gilliam, Jerry Gibson, Marty Miles, Randy Campbell, Kevin Adams, and Aaron Jones.
