CHURCH HILL - Barbara Sue Calhoun, 73, of Church Hill, passed away, Sunday, February 18, 2024. Born on March 24, 1950 to Martin and Sally Crawford, she was a resident of Sullivan County her entire life. She married George Edward Calhoun on June 18, 1968 in Gate City, VA and they would go on to have two children, Bobby and Pam. Barbara was a plant worker at Eastman Chemical Company for A & L for about 15 years, but also dedicated herself to maintaining her home and caring for her family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Martin Crawford and Sally Jarrett Wilson; sister, Essie Langrel; and brother, Denny Crawford.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, George Calhoun; son, Bobby Calhoun; daughter, Pam Seymour and husband, Randall Shawn; granddaughters, Brittany Mays and Brooke Blair; siblings, David Crawford, Ann Gilliam, Bessie Quesenberry, and Pat Summey; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her favorite great-nephew, Cameryn Nowlin.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Phil Whittemore officiating. A graveside will follow at the Calhoun Family Cemetery.
