GATE CITY - Gail Quillen, 87, Gate City, VA, passed away, Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at NHC Healthcare, Kingsport, TN.
Gail was born in Knoxville, TN, on January 18, 1938, and was the daughter of the late George Madre Burdette and Virginia (Eggers) Burdette.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 65 years, Ford Quillen; daughters Madre Forsha and Mike Thomas, Carter Brown and husband Thomas, Lenoir McClung and husband Marcus. Grandchildren, Kristopher Forsha and wife Margaret, Connor Brown and wife Caroline, Patrick Brown, Anna McClung Ray and husband Nolan, Mac McClung, Cam McClung. Great grandchildren, Oliver, James, Sylvie, Miles, Townes, and Vivie Forsha.
Gail loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending their many activities and sporting events, and visiting her great grandchildren. Gail was an avid reader, loved traveling, making the holidays special (especially at Christmas) for her family.
The family is grateful for the wonderful support, care, and friendship they received from the staff at NHC, Kingsport, Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Sakshi Singel, Tina and all the oncology nurses at Johnson City Ballad Cancer Center.
The family will receive friends from 2-4p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Pastor Luke Tolley officiating. Gail's grandchildren will be providing the eulogy.
