Betty Jo Sampson Obituary

CHURCH HILL- Betty Jo Hensley Sampson, 90, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, after a long period of declining health.
She was the eldest child of the late Floyd and Nina Henry Simpson. Betty was a 1953 graduate of Church Hill High School. She worked at North Electric Co. for many years. Before retiring, she delivered newspapers for the Kingsport Times News. Betty liked gardening and enjoyed canning the vegetables that she helped plant. She was a member of Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Hensley and Buddy Sampson, and brothers, Garfield and Clifford Simpson.
Betty is survived by her sisters, Juanita Williams, Patsy Dykes, Peggy Harrold, and Ruth Lemmons, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 1:30 – 2:30 PM on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow in procession to Mount Mitchell Cemetery with Bro Dewayne Williams officiating. Music will be provided by Kage Harrold, and Dewayne Williams. In the even of inclement weather, the graveside service will be held in the funeral home chapel.
Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery, or in case of bad weather, at the funeral home by 2:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Mt. Mitchell Church Cemetery.
